Stella & Annie

We rescued these two brood mares from Lone Star kill pen together and we were their last chance.

They were said to be pregnant, but once we got them to our barn, our veterinary team determined that they were not pregnant but most likely just foaled. 

 

We spent months re-habbing them from extreme nutritional deficits and spent time gaining their trust.

Stella was a happy girl and loved all of the attention her new life was providing.  Unfortunately we lost Stella to colic 6 months after saving her from the kill pen. We are proud that we were able to provide her with love and care till the end. ​

​

Annie gained weight and dapples, but she was not so quick to trust.  Although she improved greatly over the time we had her, we determined that she would be happiest retireing in pasture with horse friends and nothing being asked of her other than to live a happy life and be fed and spoiled.
